GMC Hummer EV
Hummer's electric reboot. 1,000 hp tri-motor halo. CrabWalk diagonal drive. Pickup or SUV. Hand-built at Detroit Factory ZERO.
The Hummer EV is GMC's electric reboot of the Hummer brand — General Motors' headline-grabbing entry into the electric pickup space, launched 2022 model year. Two body variants: Hummer EV Pickup (2022+) and Hummer EV SUV (2024+). Built at GM Factory ZERO Assembly Center, Detroit, Michigan — GM's flagship EV plant (the first plant fully retooled for EV-only production). Underlying GM Ultium platform in its largest battery configuration — the Hummer EV uses a massive 205 kWh battery (the largest battery ever fitted to a production light vehicle). Multiple power configurations: 2X (dual-motor AWD, 625 hp / 7,400 lb-ft 'wheel torque' — GM's metric, ~570 lb-ft motor torque), 3X (tri-motor AWD with two motors at the rear, 830 hp / 11,500 lb-ft wheel torque), and Edition 1 (3X) with 'Watts to Freedom' launch mode unlocking 1,000 hp / 12,000 lb-ft wheel torque for 0-60 in 3.0 seconds — staggering for a 9,000 lb pickup. Range varies by config: ~329 mi on Pickup 3X, ~314 mi on SUV 3X, ~345 mi on Pickup 2X (more efficient lower-power tune). DC fast-charging up to 350 kW at 800V architecture — among the fastest in production. CrabWalk diagonal driving mode (4-wheel steering allows the Hummer to drive diagonally without turning the body — useful for obstacle navigation in off-road), Watts to Freedom launch control, Extract Mode raises ground clearance for off-road obstacles, 35-inch all-terrain tires standard. Open-air freedom (removable roof panels — pickup variant maintains the original Hummer's open-air signature). Pricing $98k-$125k depending on configuration. The Hummer EV represents GM's most ambitious EV development effort with significant engineering resources. Sales have been steady but supply-constrained — Factory ZERO is GM's flagship EV plant but production has been limited by battery supply.
