The F-150 Lightning is Ford's first all-electric pickup, launched 2022. Same body as the regular F-150 but with a dual-motor electric powertrain (up to 580bhp) and Ford's Intelligent Backup Power system that lets the truck power your house during outages. Towing range is the practical limitation — towing a heavy trailer halves the range. The 'frunk' (front trunk) is enormous because there's no engine. Build quality and software trail Tesla. Demand was huge at launch, has cooled significantly. Used Lightnings are now reasonable buys, particularly for fleet duty where towing isn't a daily requirement.
