The Rivian R1T launched in late 2021 as the first credible electric pickup truck — beating Ford's F-150 Lightning to market by months. Quad-motor variants make 835bhp and do 0-60 in 3 seconds; the 'Tank Turn' party trick lets it spin in place. Build quality on early cars was patchy but improved through 2023-2024. The R1T isn't a working farmer's truck — it's a $75k+ adventure vehicle for tech-money buyers — but as the first vehicle in its category it's quietly excellent. Reliability has improved; service network is still thin.
