Mazda CX-70
CX-90 with the third row deleted. 3.3L turbo I6 (340 hp) or PHEV (323 hp). Mazda's two-row premium offering.
The CX-70 is Mazda's two-row sister to the three-row CX-90 — same body, same wheelbase, third row deleted in favor of more cargo space. Launched 2025 model year. Built at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) Alabama — joint venture plant in Huntsville. The CX-70 sits one rung above the CX-50 in Mazda's premium-aspiring SUV lineup. Two powertrains: e-Skyactiv-G 3.3L turbo inline-6 (340 hp / 369 lb-ft on premium fuel, mild-hybrid, 8-speed automatic, AWD-only — same engine as CX-90), and e-Skyactiv PHEV (2.5L NA I4 + 100 kW electric motor, 323 hp combined / 369 lb-ft, 8-speed automatic with integrated motor, ~26 mile EV range). Both AWD-only. Trims: Turbo Preferred (base I6, ~$41k), Turbo Premium, Turbo Premium Plus, Turbo S Premium (375 hp boosted output), Turbo S Premium Plus, and PHEV Premium / Premium Plus. The CX-70 launch was met with mixed reception: critics noted the model doesn't differentiate enough from the CX-90 to justify a separate nameplate (vs simply offering CX-90 in 2-row config), pricing skews high vs CX-90 itself, and the third row's deletion gains modest cargo over CX-90 with seats folded. Mazda's pitch: 'CX-90 for buyers who don't need a third row but want premium space.' Cabin tech and powertrain identical to CX-90 — 12.3-inch widescreen, rotary controller instead of touchscreen for menu navigation while driving, Bose 12-speaker on Premium Plus, head-up display.
