GMC Canyon
GMC's mid-size pickup. Sister to Chevy Colorado. 3rd gen (2023+) all 2.7L turbo I4 (310 hp). AT4X is the off-road halo.
The Canyon is GMC's mid-size pickup, sister to the Chevrolet Colorado. Both built at GM Wentzville, Missouri. Three post-1995 generations. 1st gen (GMT355, 2004-2012): launched 2003 as 2004 model year, sister to Colorado / Hummer H3. 2.8L I4, 3.5L I5, 3.7L I5, 5.3L V8 (limited). 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual. 2nd gen (GMT700/31XX, 2015-2022): complete redesign. 2.5L I4, 3.6L V6 (308 hp), and the unique 2.8L Duramax turbo-diesel I4 (181 hp / 369 lb-ft) — the only mid-size pickup diesel sold in America during that run. AT4 off-road trim added 2020. 3rd gen (T1XX, 2023-present): completely redesigned alongside Colorado. Single engine: 2.7L turbocharged I4 (LK0/L3B) in three power tunes — 237 hp base, 310 hp mid (volume), and 310 hp with bumped torque on Duramax turbo-diesel deletion (V6 and diesel both gone). 8-speed automatic. RWD or 4WD with optional AT4 off-road package (2.0-inch lift, 32-inch all-terrain tires, multi-mode rear locker), and the halo AT4X (3-inch lift, 35-inch tires, multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear electronic locking differentials). The 3rd-gen Canyon AT4X is the most off-road-capable mid-size pickup factory-built since the Colorado ZR2 Bison's exit, with which it shares hardware — though the AT4X is positioned slightly more luxurious than the Colorado ZR2 Bison. Trims: Elevation (base), AT4, AT4X (off-road flagship), Denali (luxury — added 2024), AT4X AEV Edition (AEV-tuned ultimate, 2024+, basically a factory-overland-built truck).
