Ram ProMaster
Ram's full-size FWD van. Fiat Ducato sister. 3.6L Pentastar V6 (276 hp). FWD-based — best maneuverability in segment.
The ProMaster is Ram's full-size cargo / passenger van — sister to the Fiat Ducato sold globally, brought to North America when Fiat acquired Chrysler / Ram. Single generation since 2014 model year. Built at Stellantis Saltillo, Mexico. Underlying Fiat / Stellantis Sevel platform (the Ducato's underlying architecture, jointly developed by Fiat and PSA — now Stellantis-owned). Single powertrain in current US market: 3.6L Pentastar V6 (276 hp / 250 lb-ft, 9-speed ZF 9HP automatic, FWD only). The FWD layout is the ProMaster's defining trait vs RWD-based Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter — front-wheel-drive provides the best maneuverability and lowest cargo floor in the segment but limits towing capacity. Multiple body styles: Cargo Van (multiple wheelbase / roof height combinations — 136-inch standard, 159-inch long, 159-inch HR / extended HR), Window Van (passenger configuration), Cab Chassis (for upfitters / RV manufacturers / box trucks). 2024 mid-cycle update brought refreshed front fascia, updated 5-inch (base) or 10.1-inch (top trim) Uconnect 5 touchscreen, available Adaptive Cruise with Stop & Go on top trims, refined cabin trim. Pricing varies wildly by config: $45k cargo van starting to $70k+ loaded passenger. The ProMaster's lowest cargo floor in the segment (FWD layout removes the rear driveshaft / differential housing) makes it popular for: delivery / parcel companies (FedEx, UPS, Amazon Logistics), mobile service businesses, and increasingly camper-van conversions as an alternative to the Sprinter. Discontinuation rumored by 2027 as Stellantis pivots heavily toward electrified products — but no firm timeline as of 2026.
