Five generations covered. B14 (1995-1999): 1.6L GA16DE (115 hp) base, 2.0L SR20DE (140 hp) on SE-R trim — the original. 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto. The B14 SE-R is a developing cult car. B15 (2000-2006): 1.8L QG18DE (126 hp) base, 2.5L QR25DE on SE-R variants. SE-R Spec V (2002-2006): 2.5L QR25DE I4 (175 hp / 180 lb-ft), 6-speed manual only, Helical LSD (2004+), Brembo front brakes (2004+), sport-tuned suspension, 215/45R17 tires. The Spec V is genuinely good and underappreciated — torquier than Civic Si of the era, with Brembos on a $19k car. B16 (2007-2012): switched to FF-L platform shared with Versa. 2.0L MR20DE (140 hp) base, 2.5L QR25DE (177 hp) on SE-R. Spec V continued (200 hp from a tuned QR25, 6-speed manual). 2008 added CVT option — quality issues with the JF010E CVT plagued these. B17 (2013-2019): 1.8L MRA8DE (130 hp), Xtronic CVT or 6-speed manual (early years only). Boring but cheap. SR Turbo briefly offered (188 hp 1.6T DIG-T) 2017-2019 — ignored by the market. B18 (2020-present): redesigned on CMF-CD platform shared with Rogue. 2.0L MR20DD I4 (149 hp / 146 lb-ft) only. Xtronic CVT only — no manual in current Sentra. FWD only. Trims: S (cloth, 16-inch wheels), SV (volume, 16-inch alloys), SR (sport-styled — 18-inch alloys, sport pedals, paddle shifters on CVT), SR Premium (top — leatherette, 8-inch touchscreen, Bose 8-speaker, heated front seats). Standard Nissan Safety Shield 360. 2024 facelift: refreshed grille and bumpers, larger 12.3-inch touchscreen optional on SR Premium, new digital instrument cluster on SR Premium. 35 mpg combined EPA.
