Single generation since 2023 on Mercedes' MFA2 platform shared with A-Class / GLA / GLB / EQA. Built at Mercedes Kecskemét, Hungary. The EQB is the electric sister to the GLB — retaining the GLB's signature optional third row for 7-seat capability, which makes the EQB unique in the compact luxury EV segment (no rival offers a 3-row option in this size class). 70.5 kWh battery (66.5 kWh usable). US trims: EQB 250+ (single-motor FWD, 188 hp / 287 lb-ft, ~245 mi EPA range — added in 2024 as the most efficient option), EQB 300 4MATIC (dual-motor AWD, 228 hp / 287 lb-ft, ~242 mi EPA range), and EQB 350 4MATIC (dual-motor AWD, 288 hp / 384 lb-ft, 6.0 sec 0-60, ~227 mi EPA range). DC fast-charging peaks at only 100 kW — significantly below segment leaders (Genesis GV60 at 240+ kW, Ioniq 5 at 235 kW). The 100 kW peak is the EQB's biggest functional weakness for long-trip use: 10-80% takes ~32 minutes vs ~18 minutes on 800V Korean EVs. 11 kW AC onboard charger standard. Cabin: standard MBUX dual 10.25-inch displays in unified panoramic dashboard panel, optional MBUX Hyperscreen (the 56-inch curved glass spanning three displays — rare option on EQB but available), 'Hey Mercedes' voice assistant, augmented reality navigation. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic glass roof. Standard Driving Assistance package: adaptive cruise, lane keep, blind spot. Trims: Premium, Exclusive (top — leather, panoramic roof, Burmester audio). 2024 facelift refreshed front fascia with simplified grille design, brought slight efficiency improvements through motor recalibration. The EQB has been one of Mercedes' strongest-selling EVs in the US, supported aggressively with $7,500 lease cash. Despite the modest range and slow DC charging, the 3-row option and Mercedes badge appeal to buyers stepping out of GLB / GLA / Lexus NX EV equivalents. Discontinuation rumored after 2026 as Mercedes pivots to the MMA platform replacing MFA2.
