Hyundai Ioniq 9 First Generation (2025-present)
Hyundai's electric flagship 3-row. 110 kWh, 350 kW charging, 422 hp Performance. US-built (Georgia).
Single generation since 2025, on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) — shared with the Kia EV9, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Genesis GV60. Built at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Bryan County, Georgia. 110.3 kWh usable battery (115 kWh nominal) — larger than EV9's 99.8 kWh, providing the Ioniq 9 a range advantage over its sister. Three trim families: Long Range RWD (single rear motor, 160 kW / 215 hp / 258 lb-ft, ~335 mi EPA range), Long Range AWD (front + rear motors combined 227 kW / 303 hp / 446 lb-ft, ~320 mi range), and Performance AWD (front + rear higher-output motors, 315 kW combined / 422 hp / 516 lb-ft, 4.9 sec 0-60, ~310 mi range). DC fast-charging at 350 kW peak on 800V architecture — 10-80% in 24 minutes (matches Ioniq 5/6, EV9). 11 kW AC onboard charger. V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) standard with up to 3.6 kW output — can power tools, appliances, second EV. V2H / V2G capability built in, activation via future OTA updates. Cabin: dual 12-inch displays in unified panoramic dashboard panel, 'Universal Island' sliding center console (~8-inch fore/aft travel — front passengers can slide it back for more footwell, rear passengers can pull it forward for armrest access), 7-seat default with bench second row, optional 6-seat with captain's chairs. 64-color ambient lighting, Bose 14-speaker premium audio on Calligraphy trim, head-up display, second-row sunshade, third-row power-fold, hands-free smart liftgate. Standard advanced driver assists (Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise with curve speed management, Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Following Assist, Blind Spot View Monitor). Trims: SE (base), SEL, Limited (top non-Calligraphy), Calligraphy (luxury flagship — Bose, Nappa leather, dual sunroof). Production launched 2024 but US dealer deliveries hit volume in mid-2025 after Hyundai relocated Ioniq 9 production from Korea to Georgia to qualify for IRA federal tax credits. Pricing positions Ioniq 9 above EV9 by ~$3-5k at equivalent trim.
