The Malibu has been GM's mid-size sedan for 60 years and has never once been class-leading. The 7th gen (2008-2012) was probably the best of them — Buick-grade interior on a Saab-derived Epsilon platform. The 9th gen (2016-2024) was OK without ever being memorable. GM killed it in November 2024 alongside the Camaro. The 2.0T variants are quietly fast; the hybrid is actually a sensible used buy. As an enthusiast pick, look elsewhere.
