Chevrolet Blazer EV First Generation (2024-present)
Prologue's sister. Ultium. SS trim: 615 hp / 3.4 sec — Polestar-tuned chassis.
Single generation since 2024 model year. Built at GM Ramos Arizpe, Mexico on GM Ultium platform (BEV3 / 400V architecture). The Blazer EV is the mechanical sister to the Honda Prologue — both built side-by-side at Ramos Arizpe under the Honda-GM joint development agreement. Same battery, same motor architecture, same wheelbase — different exterior styling, different cabin trim, different brand-specific tuning. Multiple powertrain configurations across the trim lineup: 1LT FWD (single front motor, ~250 hp / 295 lb-ft), 2LT AWD (dual-motor AWD, ~288 hp / 333 lb-ft combined), RS RWD (single rear motor, ~340 hp / 325 lb-ft, ~324 mi EPA range — longest-range trim), RS AWD (dual-motor AWD, ~288 hp combined), and the headline Blazer EV SS (top performance trim — dual-motor AWD with bumped front and rear motor tunes, 615 hp / 650 lb-ft combined, 3.4 sec 0-60 — among the quickest non-luxury EVs, ~303 mi range). 102 kWh battery standard across all trims (slightly larger than Equinox EV's 85 kWh — same Ultium pack tier as Lyriq / Vistiq). DC fast-charging peak 190 kW at 400V architecture, 11.5 kW AC charging standard, optional 19.2 kW AC for trims with bidirectional charging hardware. Cabin: 17.7-inch landscape touchscreen (shared design with Equinox EV — same panel, same UX) + 11-inch driver display, Google built-in (native Maps / Assistant / Play Store), Chevrolet Connect services, wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, available Bose 9-speaker premium audio. Trims: 1LT FWD (~$50k base, single-motor, base equipment), 2LT AWD (mid AWD), RS RWD (sport-styled — premium 21-inch wheels, sport seats, distinct exterior trim), RS AWD (~$58k AWD with sport package), SS (~$60-70k+ — 615 hp performance variant, Polestar engineering chassis tuning applied — the result of a brief GM-Polestar engineering services contract). Standard Chevy Safety Assist ADAS. Optional Super Cruise hands-free highway driving — standard on SS / RS trims. Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) variant offered for fleet sales — the first electric pursuit-rated vehicle from a Detroit OEM, designed for law enforcement use with bumper-mounted cameras, badge-light controls, and reinforced battery cooling for high-speed sustained operation. The Blazer EV launch was plagued by software issues in early 2024 — Chevrolet halted deliveries for approximately 8 weeks (December 2023 - January 2024) to address infotainment / charging / sensor bugs via OTA updates. Sales have stabilized post-fix with strong recovery through 2024 and into 2025. The SS variant has been received exceptionally well — the 615 hp performance + Polestar-engineered chassis at sub-$70k pricing has made it one of the strongest performance-EV value propositions in the US market. Federal tax credit eligible (USMCA build + battery sourcing).
