Cadillac SRX
Cadillac's mid-size SUV across two generations. Original RWD/AWD with V8 option, second-gen FWD-based.
The SRX was Cadillac's mid-size SUV from 2004-2016 across two distinct generations. First-gen (2004-2009) used the Sigma RWD platform with optional AWD — engine choices included 3.6L V6 (255 hp) and Northstar 4.6L V8 (320 hp). The first-gen was effectively a tall wagon, sportier than typical mid-size SUVs of its era. Second-gen (2010-2016) shifted to GM's Theta Premium FWD platform shared with the Chevy Equinox / GMC Terrain — engine options were 3.0L V6 NA (265 hp) initially, replaced by 3.6L V6 NA (308 hp) for 2012+. AWD optional. Six-speed automatic. The platform shift from RWD/V8 to FWD/V6 was controversial among enthusiasts but commercially successful — SRX volumes peaked under the second-gen, becoming Cadillac's best-selling vehicle in its time. Replaced by the XT5 for 2017. The first-gen with the Northstar V8 is the cult enthusiast pick; second-gen cars are the affordable luxury SUV used market.
