The car that invented the compact crossover SUV. XA10 (1994-2000) three / five door, AWD or FWD. XA20 (2000-2005) more grown-up. XA30 (2005-2013) the diesel D-4D era. XA40 (2013-2018) bland but reliable. XA50 (2018-Present) added the Hybrid Synergy Drive 2.5 and PHEV. UK current cars hybrid-only - 2.5 HSD (218 bhp 2WD or 222 bhp AWD) and 2.5 PHEV (302 bhp, 46-mile EV range). Pre-XA50 cars cover the petrol/diesel ICE eras. RAV4 is the rational pragmatic mid-size SUV - never the most exciting, never the cheapest, always the sensible answer. Hybrid drivetrain is famously bombproof - service it and it runs forever.
