Saturn Sky Sole Generation
Pontiac Solstice cousin. Red Line turbo (260 hp) with manual is the cult pick. ~11,100 Red Lines.
GM Kappa platform shared with Pontiac Solstice, Opel GT, Daewoo G2X. RWD only. Two engines: LE5 2.4L Ecotec NA I4 (177 hp / 166 lb-ft) on base Sky; LNF 2.0L Ecotec turbocharged direct-injection I4 (260 hp / 260 lb-ft) on Sky Red Line. Five-speed Aisin AR5 manual or five-speed Hydra-Matic 5L40-E automatic. Red Line adds limited-slip rear differential, sport-tuned suspension (revised dampers, springs, larger anti-roll bars), polished 18-inch wheels, and unique exterior trim. Manually folding fabric soft top stows in the trunk via a complex mechanism that polarised reviewers. The LNF turbo engine was GM's first North American direct-injection production engine — twin-scroll turbocharger, low lag, 19 psi boost. 0-60 in approximately 5.5 seconds (manual) or 5.7 (automatic). Reception in period was strong — MotorWeek, Car and Driver, and Grassroots Motorsports all praised the chassis balance, with the Sky generally preferred over the Solstice for its cleaner exterior styling. The Hydro Blue Edition (2008, 89 cars) is the rarest production spec; Carbon Flash Special Edition (2008, 550 cars) and Ruby Red (2009) add value. Production at Wilmington Assembly. Saturn brand killed mid-2009 in GM's bankruptcy reorganisation.
