Oldsmobile Aurora 2nd Gen (2001-2003)
Final Aurora. V6 base or V8 option. Killed when Olds was wound down.
Revised G-platform. Two engine options: 3.5L Shortstar V6 (215 hp / 230 lb-ft) base; carryover 4.0L Aurora V8 (250 hp / 260 lb-ft) as the optional upgrade. Four-speed 4T80-E automatic. FWD only. The 2001 redesign brought a slightly evolved exterior, revised interior, and updated equipment levels. Magnetic Ride Control continued as optional. The 'Final 500' commemorative edition (2003) marked the end of Aurora production with special interior trim and badging — only 500 cars. Oldsmobile brand wind-down announced December 2000 by GM CEO Rick Wagoner; Aurora production ended summer 2003 with the brand officially dead by April 2004 (last Olds was an Alero GLS sedan). Total second-gen Aurora production approximately 33,000 cars.
