Lucid Motors was founded by ex-Tesla powertrain engineers and the Air is the proof. The Sapphire variant has 1,234bhp from a tri-motor setup, does 0-60 in 1.89s, and laps Laguna Seca faster than a McLaren P1. Range on the standard Air Grand Touring is 516 miles EPA — the longest of any production EV. Charging is fastest in segment. Build quality is genuinely Mercedes-S-Class level. The catch is price ($87k base, $250k for Sapphire) and Lucid's perilous financial position — the company has burned through cash and is uncertain to survive. Buy with eyes open. The Air itself is a remarkable car.
