Lexus LX
Lexus's full-size flagship SUV. Toyota Land Cruiser-derived. Four US generations: LX 450 / LX 470 / LX 570 / LX 600. Built like a tank.
The LX is Lexus's full-size body-on-frame flagship SUV — derived from each generation of the Toyota Land Cruiser. Four US generations: 1st gen LX 450 (1996-1997, J80, 2 model years only — short stub year while Lexus established the model); 2nd gen LX 470 (1998-2007, J100) with 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 (230-275 hp); 3rd gen LX 570 (2008-2021, J200) with 5.7L 3UR-FE V8 (383 hp), one of the longest-running Lexus model generations with minimal mid-cycle change; 4th gen LX 600 (2022-present, J300) with new 3.5L V35A-FTS twin-turbo V6 (409 hp / 479 lb-ft) and ten-speed automatic. Always full-time 4WD with low-range transfer case, locking center differential, locking rear differential available, and three-row seating across all generations. The LX has consistently been Lexus's most expensive vehicle and is positioned squarely against the Range Rover and Mercedes G-Class — except the LX prioritises Toyota truck-platform reliability over the European competitors' on-road sportiness. Notable: the LX 570 (2008-2021) is the longest-running Lexus body in the modern era, and the J300 LX 600 introduced the new GA-F architecture to Lexus first before propagating to the 2024 GX, Tundra, Sequoia, and 4Runner. Always built at Toyota Tahara plant.
