Infiniti QX56 / QX80 All Generations (QX56 → QX80)

Two distinct generations of body-on-frame full-size SUV. First gen (2004-2010, JA60 platform): based on US Nissan Armada, VK56DE 5.6L V8 (320 hp 2004-2007, 400 hp 2008-2010), five-speed automatic 2004-2006, seven-speed 2007+, RWD with optional 4WD. Second gen (2011-2024, Y62 platform): based on JDM Nissan Patrol Y62, VK56VD 5.6L direct-injection V8 (400 hp / 413 lb-ft), seven-speed Jatco automatic, RWD with optional full-time 4WD. Third gen (2025-present, Z62): all-new platform, 3.5L twin-turbo V6 (450 hp / 516 lb-ft) replacing the V8 lineage, nine-speed automatic. Hydraulic Body Motion Control optional (2011+) — interconnected hydraulic dampers virtually eliminate body roll. Three-row seating, up to eight passengers. Massive curb weight (~5,800 lb). The Y62 generation (2011-2024) is the longest-running and is the V8 enthusiast pick. Production at Nissan Tochigi for first two gens, with new Z62 production split between Tochigi and other facilities. The QX80's defining trait has been the VK56 V8's longevity and torque — a workhorse engine across 20+ years of production.
