Infiniti G37 / Q40 Sole Generation (G37 / Q40)
VQ37VHR with VVEL (328-348 hp). Six-speed manual on Sport. IPL variants are the cult pick.
Nissan V36 FM platform (evolved from V35). VQ37VHR 3.7L 24-valve V6 with VVEL — Variable Valve Event and Lift, an electromechanical system that varies both valve lift and timing for both peak power and economy. 328 hp at 7,000 rpm / 269 lb-ft at 5,200 rpm on standard cars; 330 hp on Sport sedan; 348 hp on IPL coupe/convertible. Six-speed Aisin AY6 manual standard on Sport / 6MT models; five-speed Jatco automatic 2008 only, then seven-speed automatic 2009+. RWD with Intelligent AWD optional on sedan (coupe and convertible RWD-only). Three body styles: four-door sedan (G37 → Q40 from 2014), two-door 2+2 coupe (G37 → Q60 from 2014), two-door power-hardtop convertible (G37 → Q60 Convertible from 2014). The IPL G37 (2011-2015 coupe, 2012-2014 convertible) was Infiniti's modest performance halo — graphite-shadow-only paint, red Monaco leather, Akebono brakes, sport exhaust adding 18-20 hp. Self-healing Scratch Shield paint introduced 2009 across the range. Production at Nissan Tochigi plant. The G37 is now firmly an affordable used sport sedan/coupe — manual cars and IPL examples particularly desirable.
