Built at Hyundai Ulsan, South Korea plant (1st gen) and continuing for 2nd gen. 1st gen LX2 (2020-2025): launched 2019 as 2020 model year on Hyundai-Kia N3 platform shared with Kia Telluride sister vehicle / extended Sorento. 3.8L Lambda II GDI V6 (291 hp / 262 lb-ft) — only powertrain offered, smooth and proven Hyundai V6 with direct + port injection (twin injection, added 2022). 8-speed Hyundai automatic. FWD or HTRAC AWD with terrain modes (Snow, Sand, Mud, Smart). 5,000 lb towing capacity with proper hitch. 7-passenger (with 2nd-row captain's chairs) or 8-passenger (2nd-row bench) seating. Trims: SE (base), SEL, XRT (off-road appearance — added 2022, blacked-out trim, 18-inch wheels, no genuine off-road hardware), Limited (luxury), Calligraphy (luxury flagship — added 2021, quilted Nappa leather, suede headliner, 64-color ambient lighting, perforated leather wheel, two-tone exterior, 20-inch unique wheels, ventilated 2nd-row seats). 2023 mid-cycle refresh bolder front-end styling with refreshed grille, 12.3-inch digital cluster + 12.3-inch infotainment standard (replacing prior dual 10-inch screens), refreshed dashboard with horizontal layout, refreshed taillights, refreshed front bumpers. Currently the 1st-gen Palisade has been Hyundai's strongest 3-row SUV success — outselling Kia Telluride sister (despite arguably less-distinctive styling) and competing strongly against Honda Pilot / Toyota Highlander.
