YK2/YK3 platform — Honda's Global Light Truck Platform shared with 3rd-gen Pilot and 3rd-gen Passport. 73% common parts with Pilot. 3.5L direct-injection J35Y6 V6 (280 hp / 262 lb-ft) — 30 hp increase over 1st gen, with direct injection (vs port-injection 1st gen). 6-speed automatic 2017-2019, 9-speed ZF automatic from 2020 model year with revised gear ratios for better fuel economy and acceleration. i-VTM4 (Intelligent Variable Torque Management) AWD with torque vectoring — can send up to 70% torque to rear axle and 100% of that to either left or right rear wheel. Available terrain modes: Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand. FWD was optional on lower trims 2017-2020; AWD became standard for 2021 model year and onwards. Continues in-bed trunk (7.3 cu ft now) and dual-action tailgate from 1st gen. 5,000 lb towing. 2021 mid-cycle facelift updated styling toward more conventional truck aesthetic — replaced controversial 'flying buttress' bed design with cleaner squared-off bed, new front fascia with bolder grille and bumper, new headlights. In-Bed Audio System (Bluetooth speaker built into bed walls) — standard 2017-2023, discontinued 2024. TrailSport trim added 2024 with off-road tuned suspension, all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance, blacked-out trim. Trims (current): Sport ($40k), RTL ($43k), TrailSport ($45k), Black Edition ($47k). HondaSensing suite standard — adaptive cruise, lane keep, collision mitigation. 8-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto (wireless on top trims). Built at Lincoln Alabama assembly plant. The 2nd gen Ridgeline is now 9 years old and due for replacement — 3rd gen rumored for 2027 or 2028 model year, expected to share platform with 4th-gen Pilot and 4th-gen Passport (all-new for 2026).
