Mid-size SUV (3-row)

The Traverse is Chevrolet's three-row mid-size SUV — Chevy's family flagship sitting above Blazer and below Tahoe in the SUV lineup. Three generations across the run. 1st gen (2009-2017): launched late 2008 as 2009 model year on GM Lambda platform shared with Buick Enclave / GMC Acadia / Saturn Outlook. 3.6L LLT/LFY V6 (281-288 hp / 266-270 lb-ft, depending on year). 6-speed automatic. FWD or AWD. Built at GM Spring Hill Tennessee then Lansing Delta Township Michigan. 2nd gen (2018-2024): redesigned on GM C1XX platform shared with Buick Enclave / Cadillac XT6 / GMC Acadia. 3.6L V6 (310 hp / 266 lb-ft) standard, plus optional 2.0L turbo I4 (255 hp / 295 lb-ft) on RS trim only 2018-2019 (discontinued mid-2019). 9-speed automatic. FWD or AWD. 2024 model (2nd gen final 'Limited'): shortened model year due to 2023 UAW strike delaying 3rd-gen production. 3rd gen (2024-present, launched April 2024 as 2024 model year): completely new on GM E2 platform with bolder, boxier truck-styled design. Single engine: 2.5L turbo I4 (328 hp / 326 lb-ft) — substantial upgrade over 2nd-gen V6. 8-speed automatic. FWD or AWD. Z71 trim added (first-ever Traverse Z71) — off-road-tuned with twin-clutch AWD, all-terrain tires, hydraulic rebound dampers, 18-inch wheels, aluminum skid plate, red tow hooks, terrain mode + Hill Descent Control. Trims: LT, RS, Z71 (AWD-only), High Country (luxury flagship, added 2026), Premier (added 2025). 5,000 lb towing standard, 17.7-inch best-in-class touchscreen + 11-inch digital cluster, Google built-in, OnStar. Built at GM Lansing Delta Township Michigan. Currently competing against Honda Pilot / Toyota Highlander / Nissan Pathfinder / Kia Telluride.
