The Silverado has been the F-150's permanent runner-up since 1999 — not because it's worse, but because Ford has the brand. The K2XX generation (2014-2018) brought a properly modern interior; the T1XX (2019-) added the 3.0L Duramax diesel and the carbon-fiber bed on premium trims. The 6.2L V8 is the engine to have for towing and gives the Silverado its character. The interior trails the Ram 1500 in luxury but the chassis is honest and the long-term reliability is good.
