Cadillac XLR
Corvette-platform luxury roadster. Northstar V8 (320 hp) base, supercharged (443 hp) on XLR-V. Retractable hardtop. ~15,000 ever.
The XLR was Cadillac's two-seat luxury roadster from 2004-2009, sharing the C6 Corvette's Y-body platform but with completely different bodywork, retractable hardtop, and luxury interior. Northstar L47 4.6L V8 NA (320 hp) standard. From 2006, the XLR-V added a supercharged Northstar LC3 4.4L V8 (443 hp / 414 lb-ft). Six-speed automatic only (no manual offered). Magnetic Ride Control standard. Adaptive headlights, head-up display, keyless entry/start. Power-folding hardtop. Total production approximately 15,460 cars across the run, with XLR-V approximately 2,300 of those. Original prices: XLR ~$77,000, XLR-V ~$100,000. The XLR-V was the more interesting performance proposition but never matched Mercedes SL55 AMG or BMW M6 sales. Production ended 2009 along with the broader GM bankruptcy reshuffle and Northstar engine retirement. The XLR-V is now a quietly collectible Cadillac — production rarity plus supercharged Northstar is a meaningful spec.
