Audi S5 B8.5 / B9 (2013-2024)
Supercharged V6 from 2013, turbo V6 from 2018. Volume era. The B9 is the sweet spot used.
The B8.5 facelift (2013-2017) replaced the V8 with the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 making 333 hp and 325 lb-ft, paired with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. Coupe and Cabriolet bodies offered. The B9 generation (2018-2024) ditched the supercharger for a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 making 349 hp and 369 lb-ft, with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic (no manual offered). Two body styles in the B9 era: Coupe and Sportback (five-door fastback) — the convertible was killed for the B9. The Sportback is increasingly the volume seller as buyers shifted from coupes. Reception has been consistent across both eras: quick, comfortable, deeply competent, slightly lacking the character of the B8 V8. The B8.5 supercharged V6 has the better noise; the B9 turbo has the broader torque curve.
