Audi A6 Allroad
Bigger A4 Allroad. Original 'allroad' (2001-2005) with V8 + air suspension was a cult unicorn. Returned to the US for 2020.
The A6 Allroad has been sold in the US in two distinct waves with a long gap between. The original C5 'allroad quattro' (2001-2005) was the cult one — a lifted A6 Avant with adaptive air suspension that offered four height settings (from sport-low to off-road-high), available with a 4.2-litre V8 making 300 hp. Often called the 'Ur-Allroad' by Audi enthusiasts (using the German prefix meaning 'original'). Audi pulled the A6 Allroad from the US after 2005 due to slow sales (it returned to Europe in C6 and C7 form during the gap), then brought it back for the 2020 model year on the C8 platform with the 3.0-litre TFSI V6 making 335 hp. Both eras share the air suspension formula, quattro AWD standard, and the rugged-cladded wagon body. The C5 V8 Allroad has become a quiet collector car for diehard Audi enthusiasts; the modern C8 is a sensible upmarket family wagon.
