Acura RLX
RL replacement. First Acura with Jewel Eye lights. Sport Hybrid had 377 hp three-motor SH-AWD. Killed in 2020.
The RLX replaced the RL for 2014 and lasted just one generation, killed after 2020 with no direct replacement (the TLX took over flagship duties until it too was discontinued). Standard cars used a 3.5L V6 making 310 hp (later rising) with a 6-speed automatic, then a 10-speed automatic from 2018 — and crucially, FWD-only with Acura's Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) four-wheel-steering system. The Sport Hybrid variant was the technical showpiece: same V6 paired with a three-motor hybrid system (one electric motor at the front, two at the rear powering each rear wheel independently), making 377 hp combined and offering torque-vectoring SH-AWD via electric motors rather than mechanical means. Sales were dismal — the RLX never escaped from the larger TLX's shadow at the price point. Was the first Acura with the Jewel Eye LED headlights, now a brand signature.
