Saab's compact executive — Mk1 9-3 (1998–2002) was the heavy facelift of the 900 NG (NG900-derived), with hatchback bodystyles only in early years; Mk2 9-3 (2002–2012, internally 9440) was the GM Epsilon-platform car, saloon and SportCombi estate, with the 2.8 V6 Aero / Turbo X / 9-3X variants. Aero V6 (2.8 turbo, 250–280 bhp), Turbo X (2008 limited AWD halo, separate page), and the brilliant 1.9 TiD diesel. Saab went bankrupt 2011 — these are now hard to source parts for, but cabin minimalism and ignition-on-the-floor charm keep them cult.
