Maserati's mid-size four-door rival to the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class — M157 platform shared with the Quattroporte VI, built in Modena from 2013 until production ended in 2024. Petrol range used the Ferrari-Maranello-built 3.0 twin-turbo V6 (350 or 430 bhp) plus a 3.8 V8 twin-turbo Trofeo flagship at 572 bhp; UK also got a 3.0 V6 diesel (271 bhp) for fleet buyers and, late in life, a 2.0 4-cyl mild-hybrid (330 bhp). ZF 8AT throughout, RWD or Q4 AWD on petrol V6s. Lovely noise, characterful styling, but the FCA-era cabin and electronics show their age — and depreciation is brutal. The Trofeo is the cult pick.
