Lexus IS
Lexus IS — spec data and generation history.
Lexus's compact executive saloon — four generations, BMW 3 Series target. UK got the IS200/IS300 (Mk1, 1999-2005) with smooth straight-six petrol and rear-drive; IS220d/IS250 (Mk2, 2005-2013) brought a diesel option and the IS-F V8 monster; IS300h hybrid (Mk3, 2013-2020) was the only powertrain UK got that gen. Current Mk4 (2020-Present) is a major facelift on Mk3 underpinnings — UK gets IS300h only. Mk2 IS-F is the cult one: 5.0 V8, 416 bhp, RWD, 8AT — Lexus's first M-rivalling saloon and still underrated. The IS300h is a sensible alternative to a 3 Series 320d for school-run executives. Build quality unimpeachable. The hybrid years narrow appeal — no manual after Mk2, no diesel after 2013, no UK V8 after 2014. Honest, sensible, occasionally brilliant.
